Ceramics + Glass Dept.

This is an unfinished personal project looking at waste in the Ceramics + Glass department at the Royal College of Art.

The pictures below show my journey through the project so far.

A quick summary of the design process:

• Interviewed students, technicians, tutors and Head of Programme to understand the programme and where it’s heading
• Got tours of all the studios and workshops
• Key insights were on the sustainability of the programme: its energy intensity, resource useage and waste
• Focus on waste – aim of repurposing waste streams into something new, as an example that would inspire more sustainable practices in the department
• Chose specific waste streams to focus on
